Overall, Henchman: The Al Leong Story is a fantastic watch for movie fans that lived through the 80s and 90s. There is a lot of reading, sure, but is a nice alternative to visiting your local library. The hyperactive henchmen’s antics are back in Minions: The Rise of Gru, a prequel explaining how the titular reformed supervillain (voiced by Steve Carell) succumbed to evil as a 12-year-old. A good portion of the indie documentaries that I get in for review are rather choppy and bounce between topics like a high school essay but Henchman flows very well and the editing works in it’s favor. This one doesnt try to overreach and stuff too much story into the novella-length fiction. At the same time, players can literally mash the A button without reading a single word of text and still be able to earn Achievements, and this fact alone might be enough to tempt Gamerscore hunters. Very cute I loooooove superhero romances. I am sure most of that Kickstater money went into the voice work.īeing honest, I am not a big fan of visual novels as I prefer more game in my games, but the humor level is so well done, I enjoyed my time with this satirical narrative. In fact, if there was no voice acting, this would be an entirely different experience altogether. Bottom Line An enjoyable game that left me wanting more. Cons Inconsistent voice acting, not enough plot content. Pros Vibrant visuals, colorful characters. Although every line of dialog isn’t voiced, the voice cast is stellar and only adds to the experience. Henchman Story is a good start for developer Silken Sail, but I want more from their next project. This was a Kickstarter game after all and only had so much money to fund the project. It would have been nice if there was additional variety in the background art but doesn’t take away anything major from the experience. Henchmen suffers from two significant problems: 1) visually it looks awful and, more significantly 2) it doesnt have anything to say about the superhero genre. The cartoon approach feels like watching a late night show on the Cartoon Network, which is simple yet appreciated. There is no animation, as characters are portrayed as still images but with varying facial poses, but that is ok because I think it actually adds to the humor. These branching paths will yield different results so there is some replay value, many of which are tied to earning all the game’s Achievements. At times, the player will be presented with choices that will directly change the outcome, essentially making the game a choose-your-own-adventure. The Henchman’s War reminded me, in tone and construct, of the A-list actor’s 2008 adaptation of the coarse video game Max Payne, also about a lone. Henchman Story is an interactive story where you play as a beleaguered henchman working for a bumbling. The game is fully voice acted, has two romanc. Whether it is the aloof main villain Lord Bedlam, the main henchman Stan, or any of the other airheaded personalities, each encounter can a produce a laugh. Henchman Story is a visual novel developed by Silken Sail Entertainment where you play as a low-level henchman.
